The service process for Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) requires positioning the vehicle on a hoist at neutral. Remove the HO2S by using the Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Socket while disconnecting its electrical connector and apply penetrating lubricant to aid the removal process. When installing the new HO2S you should apply high temperature nickel anti-seize lubricant to its threads using a light coat. The correct torque setting for the HO2S installation must be determined followed by tightening the sensor to 46 Nm (34 lb-ft) with the Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Socket. Finally, reconnect the HO2S electrical connector.

How to Service the Heated Oxygen Sensors on Lincoln Town Car?

Initiate service of the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) by hoisting the vehicle into neutral gear position. First disconnect power from the right high HO2S electrical connector before removing the left high HO2S connectors. To remove sensors easily you should apply penetrating and lock lubricant on their threads followed by sensor disassembly. The proper torque wrench mechanism must be determined for installation before securing the sensor with a 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) tightness.
