The brake light switch requires servicing, and, to begin with, the electrical connector of the stoplamp switch must be disconnected. Take off the cover and the self-locking pin, dislodge the stoplamp switch out of the brake booster push rod and brake pedal. In order to reinstall, just retrace the uninstalling processes.

How to service the brake light switch on Mercury Mariner?

In order to repair the brake light switch, unplug the electrical connector and take the switch off. To install, once only; to make additional adjustments, a new switch is needed. Turn the knob in the opposite direction, press the brake pedal, attached the switch, pushed the pedal, and re-plugged the electrical connector.
