How to service and repair the turn signal switch on the steering column multifunction switch on Mercury Grand Marquis?

Every repair or servicing operation for the turn signal switch on the steering column multifunction switch begins with removing the steering column tilt release lever/handle. Press inward on both sides of the upper steering column shroud to release it before removing its securing screws along with those of the lower shroud at 2 Nm torque after installation. Disconnect the three electrical connectors from the multifunction switch before removing its two mounting screws by tightening them to 3 Nm (27 lb-in) when reinstalling. Completion of the installation requires performing the opposite steps of removal.
