How to Properly Handle the Oil Pan Baffle for Maintenance on a Mercury Sable?

Service and repair of the oil pan baffle starts by removing first the oil pump screen cover and tube followed by all nuts on the oil pan baffle. Place the oil pan baffle correctly then install the nuts which need two-step tightening starting from 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) followed by further tightening at 45°. Complete the service by fitting back the oil pump screen cover together with the tube.
