How to service and repair the oil pump on Mercury Sable?

Repair of the oil pump requires timing drive removal and afterwards the screen cover and tube should be detached. You must first remove the damper bolt and crankshaft sprocket before breaking the oil pump loose by removing the indicated sequence of bolts. Installation begins with position of the oil pump followed by bolt installation according to sequence and subsequent replacement of crankshaft sprocket and finally oil pump screen cover along with tube and timing drive components.
