How to Properly Maintain the Rack and Pinion Boot on a Mercury Mariner?

To service the rack and pinion boot, hoist the vehicle with the transmission in neutral. Remove the outer tie-rod end and jam nut, tightening the jam nut to 41 Nm upon reinstallation. Then, remove the boot clamps and boot, and reverse the steps to install the new boot and clamps.
