How to service and repair the Trunk Lid Lift Support on Mercury Sable?

A service repair of the power liftgate rod requires the removal of the LH quarter trim panel access cover. Press the clip on the power liftgate rod to disengage it from the motor assembly then raise the rod assembly while freeing it away. The service team must remove the cover along with its retaining nut while using threadlock to treat all fastener threads before securing it at 11 Nm (97 lb-in). You must take out the three power liftgate rod mounting bracket nuts before installation although you should securely tighten them to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft). To install and activate the power liftgate execute the opposite instructions of the removal sequence.
