To service the windshield washer reservoir, dismantle air cleaner assembly, two bolts to relocate the pump and reservoir, then tighten them to 6 Nm when reinstalled. Unplug electricity, work with methanol, empty fluid and take out the pump and reservoir. Undo the process of installation.

How to service and repair the windshield washer reservoir on Mercury Mountaineer?

Disassemble air cleaner and right-front splash shield. Unscrew washer pump and level connectors. 4.6L: unbolt, push away A/C accumulator. 4.0L: unscrew grille and three retainers, push air deflector forward, position accumulator aside. De-drain when necessary, disconnect hoses, loosen bolts (re-screw 5 Nm/44 lb-in), take out reservoir, reassemble. Methanol is poisonous.
