How to service the front wheel drive (FWD) wheel bearing on Mercury Mariner?

In order to service the FWD wheel bearing, the wheel and tire must first be removed, followed by the wheel hub nut. Take the wheel hub out with suitable tools. Take out the inner bearing race and take off the snap ring. Install new bearing and snap ring and reconnect the hub, sensor ring and brake drum, and tighten the hub nut to 290 Nm.

How to service the rear wheel bearing on Mercury Mountaineer?

To maintain the rear wheel bearing, take out the wheel knuckle and make sure that the press adapter is not large in comparison to the hub. Pop off and discard the hub and bearing, using a press. Install a new bearing and hub by swapping the removal process because they are not reusable.
