Repair and servicing of the camshaft requires uninstalling all timing drive elements. Clean engine oil should be used to lubricate cam lobes before any installation process. First remove the camshaft bearing cap bolts and bearing caps before tightening the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) according to a specified order. The camshaft necessitates removal before finishing with an inversion of the removal procedure.

The service and repair process begins with roller follower removal before proceeding with LH timing chain extraction from the LH side and both timing chains from the RH side. Proceed by removing the camshaft sprocket followed by tensioning the component along with inserting a locking mechanism. First remove the bolt along with washer and spacer before taking out the timing chain, sprocket and the intake camshaft sprocket spacer. Be careful to return the longer outer bolts from the exhaust bearing cap since their correct positions maintain engine safety and maintain awareness of camshaft positions on cylinder heads because these components are not replaceable between them. First unfasten the bolts leading to the removal of camshaft bearing cap assemblies and camshafts subsequently. The correct installation of these components requires placing the timing marks at 12 o'clock and aligning them with 6 o'clock before reversing the removal steps. The camshafts require lubrication by Super Premium SAE 5W-30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or an alternative equivalent that adheres to Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G.

Reverse the removal procedure to complete the process.

Remove the bolts, the camshaft thrust plate, and the spacer before finally extracting the camshaft itself.

Lubricate the camshafts and camshaft bearing caps with clean engine oil, ensuring the bearing caps are installed in their original positions.

Install the camshaft bearing caps loosely and then tighten the bolts in the specified sequence.
