How to service and repair the camshaft on Ford F-150?

Removal of the timing chains to service the camshaft does not require rotation of the crankshaft or camshaft. Removal of camshaft sprocket with the bearing cap positions noted. Wipe off and clean all parts. Plastic tools should be used and clean oil lubricated during installation. Install the roller followers and timing chains again, and then tighten the bolts in order.

How to service and repair the camshaft on Ford Ranger?

In order to service the camshaft, detach the radiator assembly, hydraulic lash adjusters, timing chain and camshaft synchronizer. Do not destroy the camshaft. Install clean engine oil on parts before fitting. Once installed, measure end play, start the engine and refill the oil and coolant and then re-connect the battery.
