You should start crankshaft main bearing seal service and repair by removing the flexplate then the engine-to-transmission spacer plate. You must utilize the Impact Slide Hammer and the Crankshaft Rear Seal Remover to pull out the crankshaft rear seal before discarding it. Apply clean engine oil to the inside part of the new crankshaft rear seal before installing it with the help of the 2 Crankshaft Rear Seal Installers. After distributing engine oil to the new crankshaft rear oil slinger, use the combo of 2 Crankshaft Rear Seal Installers and the Crankshaft Rear Oil Slinger Installer to set in both components. Drive the engine-to-transmission spacer plate together with the flexplate during reinstallation.

Begin the repair process of crankshaft main bearing seal by placing the vehicle on a hoist with neutral transmission. Start by taking out both the flexplate together with the engine-to-transmission spacer plate. The service requires tooling up with the Crankshaft Rear Oil Slinger Remover and Slide Hammer for the slinger removal task then requiring the Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Remover and Slide Hammer for the seal extraction process. Separate the engine mount nuts before using the Engine Lifting Bracket to attach it to right and left heads and the Engine Support Bar for engine elevation. Use a torque blueprint of 23 Nm (17 lb-ft) to tighten the drain plug of the engine oil before putting it back into position. Release the two pin-type wire harness retainers from the oil pan then remove all oil pan bolts following their installation order before lowering the oil pan partially. Place the oil pump screen and pickup tube in the oil pan after removing the three bolts but keep both components for disposal. The installation requires discarding the pickup tube O-ring seal and oil pan gasket. The following step requires removing the six bolts that fasten the crankcase rear seal retainer plate. A plastic scraping tool should prepare sealing surfaces while gasket maker forms a bead on the engine block surface where the rear crankshaft seal retainer mates. Install the rear oil seal retainer plate before attaching its six bolts only loosely. Tighten these bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) in the stated order. A crankshaft rear seal requires engine oil on its inner lip before the installation using the Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Installer followed by the Crankshaft Rear Oil Slinger Installer for positioning the crankshaft oil slinger. Follow surface cleaning of the oil pan mating area by installing a new O-ring with engine oil lubrication then place the oil pump screen and pickup tube into the oil pan. Assemble the oil pump screen with its pickup tube to the oil pump then adjust the bolts at 10 Nm (89 lb-in) while the oil pump screen with its pickup tube to the spacer requires 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) torque. Obsolete sealant must be piped to the rear seal retainer interface and engine front cover contact area before accumulating in four minutes to minimize leakage. Hook up the oil pan bolts on two occasions using 20 Nm (177 lb-in) torque then rotate them by 60 degrees. Alleviate the engine then position the engine mount studs properly before re-connecting both pin-type wire harness retainers to the oil pan. Install both engine mount nuts to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft) torque and return the engine-to-transmission spacer plate together with the flexplate. After adding clean oil the engine should start while inspecting for any leakage from the system.

The first step for servicing the front crankshaft seal requires eliminating the crankshaft pulley. You must utilize the Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Remover to remove the previous crankshaft front seal which should be discarded. The process of installing the new front seal requires application of engine oil for lubrication purposes. The correct method of installing new crankshaft front seals requires both the Front Cover Aligner and Crankshaft Vibration Damper Installer tools. Finally, reinstall the crankshaft pulley.

Remove the flexplate and the engine rear cover plate.

Reinstall the engine rear cover plate and the flexplate.

Use the Impact Slide Hammer and the Crankshaft Rear Seal Remover to extract the crankshaft rear seal, also discarding it.

Use a new crankshaft pulley bolt and washer, and tighten the bolt in four stages: first to 120 Nm (89 lb-ft), then loosen one full turn, next to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft), and finally tighten an additional 90 degrees.

Install the Adapter for 303-579 and the Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Screws.

First, remove the crankshaft pulley.

Begin by removing the flexplate or flywheel, followed by the spacer plate.

Utilize the Front Cover Aligner and Crankshaft Vibration Damper Installer.

Reinstall the flexplate.
