Gate Latch, Rear

A proper installation of the rear door latch requires the door glass to be raised to its full position. Start with the removal of rear door trim panel along with exterior door handle. The first step ends with setting aside the water shield and removing power from the rear door latch actuator electrical connector. Begin by taking off the extension from the door lock rod and guide the door lock rod together with its grommet through the door panel. You must conduct the same procedure for the interior door handle cable by moving it through the door panel and pulling it out again through the access opening. The exterior door handle reinforcement bolt needs loosening before finally tightening it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) during installation. The sliding motion of the exterior front door handle reinforcement moves toward the front section of the vehicle before pushing it into the door cavity. The three back door latch bolts should be removed before installation while tightening them to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Extract the entire latch-carrier-handle reinforcement assembly from the door space before opening the clip to detach the exterior rear door handle actuating rod. Pull off the rear door latch that belongs to the carrier by unclipping it. You should perform the reverse operation of removal to finish the installation.

Ensure the door glass is fully raised before beginning.

Remove the rear door trim panel and position the watershield aside.

Tighten the bolts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

Ensure the rear door window glass is fully raised.

Open the clip to disconnect it.

Ensure the exterior door handle and the door handle actuating rod are relaxed, with the exterior door handle rod fully raised.

Remove the front door latch by positioning the cable cover aside and releasing the conduit along with the interior door handle actuating cable.
