2000 Ford Expedition A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator on 2000 Ford Expedition?
A: The service of HVAC accumulators needs users to disconnect the battery ground cable. Execute the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure as your second step. The first step involves removing the junction block splash shield along with disconnecting its cable ends. Then disconnect the junction block bracket after you detach the connector and remove all screws. You should disconnect the electrical connector of the A/C cycling switch and the spring lock coupling from the suction accumulator and the manifold and tube assembly. The suction accumulator spring lock coupling requires disconnection from the A/C evaporator core after unfastening the suction accumulator bracket clamp bolt and breaking the suction accumulator spring lock coupling at the evaporator core. Rupture the A/C cycling switch from the top of the suction accumulator during this removal. The procedure for installation opposes the removal steps but the new suction accumulator needs proper lubrication using PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or WSH-M1C231-B equivalent.
