    A: Service and repair tasks on the brake caliper start after placing the vehicle in NEUTRAL position on a hoist. First disconnect the parking brake cable end from its lever arm at the caliper before removing the entire parking brake cable and conduit at the brake caliper. The service requires removal of the brake caliper flow bolt together with its two copper washers for disposal. The brake caliper requires detachment through removal of its two bolt securing mechanisms. To prevent damage the guide pin and locator pin boots must be installed correctly while guide pin and locator pins should receive silicone grease treatment when needed. Begin securing the brake caliper with its two bolts using a torque of 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.), but start by first tightening the bottom guide pin caliper bolt. The brake caliper flexible hose must be positioned with two new copper washers while the brake caliper flow bolt should be tightened to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.). The parking brake cable and conduit need reattachment to the brake caliper followed by installation of the parking brake cable end into the brake caliper lever arm. The last step includes bleeding the brake system while checking for correct system operation. DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid represents the only accepted fluid for this use because other types may harm brake elements and disable braking systems permanently. Handle brake fluid with care because it will damage painted and plastic surfaces and required immediate cleaning with water if fluid leaks occur.
