How to service the left-hand exhaust manifold on 2008 Ford Ranger?

The service operation for the left-hand exhaust manifold begins by hoisting the vehicle to a defined position with neutral gear selection and battery cable disconnection. First disconnect the exhaust flange nuts along with the ones securing the oil level indicator installation and its tube and the nut on the upper intake manifold support brace. Service the left-hand exhaust manifold by first removing the exhaust manifold-to-EGR valve tube connection to the exhaust manifold followed by extracting the bolts and stud bolts and exhaust manifold with its gasket which needs discarding. The installer must inspect and clean the exhaust manifold prior to its installation. Since new parts need installation replace both the exhaust manifold and its gasket then the bolts and stud bolts with fresh components before initiating the torque to 10 Nm (89 lb-inch) then continuing to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft). Reconnect the exhaust manifold-to-EGR valve tube while using 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) torque force then tighten the upper intake manifold support brace and its nut to 7 Nm (62 lb-inch). Clean the oil level indicator tube end using metal surface prep before sealing it with silicone gasket and applying the sealant. After mounting the oil level indicator and tube assembly you should fasten it using the bracket nut to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft). The last step involves putting on the exhaust flange nuts followed by tightening them to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) then reconnecting the battery ground cable.
