How to Service the Crankshaft Position Sensor on a 2.3L Engine on 2009 Ford Ranger?

Service the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor of a 2.3L engine only when the vehicle remains in NEUTRAL position while being hoisted. Detach the electrical connector from the CKP sensor then remove the engine plug bolt. Place the Crankshaft Timing Peg on the crankshaft and adjust the crankshaft pulley bolt until the No. 1 cylinder reaches Top Dead Center (TDC). Two bolts holding the CKP sensor must be removed first followed by its sensor extraction. You must use the Crankshaft Sensor Aligner to correctly install the new CKP sensor before installing its two bolts loosely. Install the bolts on the sensor with an aligner before tightening them to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). Replace the CKP sensor electrical connector before taking out the 6 mm x 18 mm bolt and putting back the engine plug bolt which needs tightening to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
