Ford Ranger Clutch Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Master Cylinder and Reservoir on Ford Ranger?
    A:
A hoisted vehicle parked in neutral alignment is required to begin Clutch Master Cylinder and Reservoir servicing and repair procedures. Use the Hydraulic Line Disconnect Tool to disconnect the hydraulic tube from the Clutch Slave Cylinder only after thoroughly cleaning the surrounding area of the quick disconnect coupling. Begin the procedure by uninstalling first the screws which anchor the lower steering column finish panel and then move to eliminating the five bolts that hold the lower reinforcement panel in place. Detach the Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch electrical connector before taking off the clutch master cylinder rod from the clutch pedal arm. The CPP switch removal begins with raising the upper cover off its lock tabs then rotating and extracting it from the clutch master cylinder rod. The next step requires removing the clutch reservoir then the sequence of pushpins and four bolts followed by four screws and the inner fender splash shield. To remove the clutch master cylinder assembly first unclip the hydraulic tube-to-frame retainer before clockwise rotation of 45 degrees to detach it from the support bracket. Take away the clutch reservoir pairing it with the hydraulic tube and clutch master cylinder which should remain united. Installation involves backward execution of removal steps requiring the new push rod retainer together with fluid refilling of the clutch reservoir followed by 15 clutch pedal depressions.
