How to service and repair the Windshield Wiper Switch and steering column multifunction switch on Ford Mustang?

Service and repair of the wiper switch and steering column multifunction switch requires detachment of the instrument cluster finish panel by removing its retaining clips from the bezel. Service and repair of the wiper switch and steering column multifunction switch starts with removing the floor console finish panel and the LH A-pillar lower trim panel and the left center stack wing. Disengage the two screws holding the steering column opening cover while disconnecting the headlamp and courtesy light switch electrical wiring. You need to disable the four bolts which secure the steering column opening cover reinforcement before refitting these bolts with a torque setting of 9 Nm (80 lb-in). Work by properly tucking in and pushing the upper steering column shroud sides before using your fingers to remove the shroud and its residual screws from the lower part. Disconnect the turn signal/headlamp switch electrical connector before you remove the two screws needed to extract the turn signal/headlamp switch. The windshield wiper/washer switch electrical connector requires disconnecting before removing the switch by taking out its two screws. The installation ends by following the reverse order of uninstallation steps.

How to Address Issues with a Windshield Wiper Switch on a Ford Ranger?

The battery ground cable needs to be disconnected as the first step for wiper switch servicing. The first step requires placing the ignition key into position and turning the RUN position before using a punch tool to extract the release tab and pull out the lock cylinder. First detach any tilt wheel handle from the system before freeing the upper and lower steering column shrouds by unscrewing both parts. The multi-function switch needs to be removed after you disconnect its electrical connectors and unscrew it from its position and take it out of the switch location. Temporary abnormal drive symptoms will appear when reinstalling because the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery so driving more than 16 km (10 mi) might be needed. Reversing the steps used for removal will finish the installation.
