How to service and repair the lower control arm on Lincoln MKZ?

A proper service or repair of the lower control arm involves starting with spring removal. Remove and discard the cam adjuster nut followed by the cam adjuster and cam bolt and lower arm itself from the system. Before installation of the new parts the technician should use components with identical part numbers or equivalent quality ratings then torque the cam adjuster nut to 101 Nm (74 lb-ft) when positioning the suspension at its fastener tightening position. A suitable jack should lift the suspension until the center of the hub stands 395 mm (15.55 in) from the edge of the fender in order to prevent improper clamp force and damage to the bushings. Adjust the cam adjuster nut to full tightness only after checking and setting the rear alignment if needed. Reinstallation requires positioning the cam bolt together with the cam adjuster so their cams point upward before proceeding with the opposite sequence of removal steps.
