How to Service the Fog Light Bulb on Mercury Mariner?

A technician should start fog lamp bulb servicing by turning off both the headlamp switch and ignition switch. The vehicle needs to maintain a NEUTRAL position during hoist positioning before removing all 4 bolts from the front splash shields while torquing them to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) during reassembly. The next step requires removing the 4 front fender splash shield pin-type retainers before setting the shield aside. First disconnect the fog lamp bulb electrical connector before counterclockwise rotation allows removal of the bulb. When you install a new bulb you should follow the removal process in reverse order while treating the halogen bulb base first since operating it by hand could result in injury because the bulb has pressure-loaded gas that shatters when mishandled. Do not keep the bulb out for long periods to stop contaminants from damaging output and never operate the lights when the bulb is absent.

How to Service the Fog Light Bulb on Mercury Sable?

The service procedure for fog lamp bulbs begins with supporting the vehicle while it is raised off the ground. Apply this procedure to remove first the aeroshield-to-sub frame screws and then the seven screws which secure the aeroshield before removing it completely. Before handling the fog lamp bulb remove its electrical connector and perform meticulous bulb removal while gripping the base only to defend against glass envelope damage from scratching or dropping which could cause it to shatter. The bulb removal should only occur at the last moment before new bulb installation because contaminants entering the fog lamp will damage its operation. The installation process for the new bulb begins with repeating steps for removal in reverse order while waiting to activate the bulb until installation is complete.

How to Service the Fog Light Bulb on Mercury Grand Marquis?

A proper service of fog lamp bulbs requires the ignition switch along with headlamp switch set to OFF. Place the vehicle in NEUTRAL gear then put it on a hoist before removing the 4 screws fastening the lower radiator air deflector. Disconnect the electrical connector by detaching its locator pin followed by the bulb removal of the fog lamp bulb. Install the new bulb by holding it only near the base since gas pressure inside the halogen bulb can cause glass failure when you scratch the envelope or drop it. Then follow the reverse order from removal to finish the installation of the new bulb. The fog lamp bulb should not stay disconnected for extended periods since this will impact headlamp bulb operation while enabling foreign substances to enter the fog lamp that could collect on lens surfaces and reflectors. It is unsafe to activate fog lamps anytime the bulb remains absent from its installation.
