2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator on 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
A: Service of the suction accumulator begins by recovering refrigerant and cutting the A/C cycling switch connector. A back up wrench should be used to tighten and loosen the evaporator core outlet tube fitting nut until it reaches 49 Nm (36 lb-ft). Once you disconnect the auxiliary fitting replace both the old O-ring seal and tighten the fitting to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). The manifold and tube assembly should be disconnected while you also tighten it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) during installation but must discard the O-ring seal. First remove the clip on the evaporator inlet and detach it and then take out the suction accumulator screws before removing the suction accumulator itself and tighten the components to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The reverse procedure should be followed during installation by attaching new O-ring seals and properly lubricating the refrigerant system with clean PAG oil according to specification. The refrigerant system should be evacuated followed by leak testing then final system-charging.
