A damage-free operation of electronic engine controls requires turning the ignition switch to the OFF position. Separate the bolt and save the battery ground cable before tightening it to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft) during reinstall. The procedure requires removing the bolt and flagnut to position the steering linkage damper aside so that you should tighten them to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft) when reinstalling. After detaching the wiring harness retainer you should disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector. The bolt holding the CKP sensor needs removal before discarding the o-ring seal because engine oil application for the new o-ring seal precedes sensor tightness at 13 Nm (115 lb-in).
