A: A non-functional ignition switch lock cylinder requires initial removal of the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) transceiver together with the ignition lock cylinder. Drill a 1/8-inch diameter and a 3/8-inch diameter hole into the lock cylinder retaining pin and middle of the ignition key slot to free the ignition lock cylinder. All elements removed from the Steering Column including the ignition lock cylinder among the drill debris need disposal. As the next step remove the bearing retainer after which you must remove the steering column lock housing bearing and steering column lock gear. dump cleaning must follow the drill shavings removal from the steering column before checking the column for damage. Place a new ignition lock cylinder into the steering column and check its performance before beginning to program new PATS keys.
