Service and repair of the
Timing Chain tensioner begins with removing the engine front cover and the camshaft synchronizer drive gear by unbolt the component. The
Crankshaft must be rotated until timing marks and keyways line up while the timing chain tensioner goes through compression before use of a retaining pin maintains its position. The service starts with unfastening the camshaft sprocket along with the crankshaft sprocket and timing chain assembly which needs to be completed before unbolting the timing chain tensioner. Fasten the timing chain tensioner bolts using a torque specifications of 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.). Protective retaining pins should be inserted after pulling back the tensioner pad mechanism. Turn the crankshaft until the Number 1
Piston reaches top dead center position with the key position at 12 o'clock. First install the timing chain then position the camshaft sprocket's timing mark at its 12 o'clock position relative to the balance shaft's 6 o'clock timing mark before you place the three parts. Roll the assembly until the marks and keyways match. The repair process starts by removing the retaining pin followed by installation of the camshaft synchronizer drive gear along with its bolt which requires torque specification to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.) before reinstallation of the engine front cover.
