How to service and repair the oil filter on Ford Fusion?

The service and repair procedure for the oil filter starts by positioning the vehicle into NEUTRAL position on a hoist. Two screws must be removed if the oil filter access cover exists. First use a cup-style oil filter wrench to turn the oil filter cover one full turn counterclockwise for loose attachment then remove the oil filter drain plug and drain oil from the adapter. Begin the service by removing the drain plug from the oil filter adapter while collecting engine oil through the adapter and the drain plug O-ring seal needs disposal. The service technician should remove the oil filter cover followed by the oil filter element while discarding both objects and the oil filter cover O-ring seal. Clean the oil filter cover as well as the mounting surface of the oil filter adapter and lubricate a new oil filter cover O-ring seal with oil from the engine before installation. The oil filter cover requires precise tightening to 33 Nm (24 lb-ft) with the cup-shaped wrench since overtightening has the risk of damaging the cover alongside the O-ring seal and creating an oil leak. Install a new oil filter drain plug O-ring seal by coating it with clean engine oil and position it correctly before securely tightening to 10 Nm (89 lb-inch). Avoid overtorque to prevent any damage. Set the two screws to complete the reinstallation process when using the oil filter access cover.

Q: How to service and repair the oil filter on Ford Fusion?
A: The service and repair procedure for the oil filter starts by positioning the vehicle into NEUTRAL position on a hoist. Two screws must be removed if the oil filter access cover exists. First use a cup-style oil filter wrench to turn the oil filter cover one full turn counterclockwise for loose attachment then remove the oil filter drain plug and drain oil from the adapter. Begin the service by removing the drain plug from the oil filter adapter while collecting engine oil through the adapter and the drain plug O-ring seal needs disposal. The service technician should remove the oil filter cover followed by the oil filter element while discarding both objects and the oil filter cover O-ring seal. Clean the oil filter cover as well as the mounting surface of the oil filter adapter and lubricate a new oil filter cover O-ring seal with oil from the engine before installation. The oil filter cover requires precise tightening to 33 Nm (24 lb-ft) with the cup-shaped wrench since overtightening has the risk of damaging the cover alongside the O-ring seal and creating an oil leak. Install a new oil filter drain plug O-ring seal by coating it with clean engine oil and position it correctly before securely tightening to 10 Nm (89 lb-inch). Avoid overtorque to prevent any damage. Set the two screws to complete the reinstallation process when using the oil filter access cover.
