How to Service and Repair the TPMS Sensor on Ford Edge?

Before servicing TPMS sensors start by activating them if the car has been idle longer than 30 minutes since the sensors automatically enter power-saving mode. The training process should happen on one vehicle only in a radio-frequency-free area keeping at least a 1-meter distance from other TPMS-equipped vehicles. The Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool needs another attempt after rotating each wheel at least one-fourth of a turn when the sensor does not respond. Try using the customer activation tool or train the system with open doors in case the sensor does not respond to the initial procedure. A 2-minute time frame exists for the Smart Junction Box (SJB) to detect sensor responses but failure to recognize any of the four sensors triggers a horn alert twice before requiring another test attempt. After rotating vehicle tires the sensors should be trained to prevent the TPMS indicator from illuminating. Begin the training process with the ignition off while performing two brake pedal releases and three ignition off to run cycles before performing another brake pedal press. First shut down the ignition before repeating the sequence off to run three times off. A properly carried out training will trigger a single horn sound and a flash from the TPMS indicator alongside a display of Train LF Tire at the message center (if equipped). The Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool should be placed at the valve stem on the LF tire and you need to push the test button to hear brief horn feedback. The procedure to train the RF sensor requires a two-minute time interval and follows the same method applied for the LF tire. After training both RR and LR tires the message center will show Tire Training Complete when the procedure finishes. A message center shows the Tire Training Complete notice after training. The successful completion can also be seen by turning the ignition off without hearing the horn. Horn noises indicate training failure. The scan tool should be used to find and record the updated TPMS sensor identifiers which the SJB received for the specific warranty claim. A new SJB system installation requires clearing of DTCs followed by performing the SJB On-Demand Self Test to leave manufacturing mode and check for additional problems.

How to Activate TPMS Sensors on Ford Expedition?

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensors require a driver to turn the ignition switch to ON position before they can activate. Fit the Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool to the left front tire sidewall close to the tire valve stem. A successful response by each tire pressure sensor produces feedback via green light flashing and audio signaling on the tool yet sensor feedback might intermittently fail to appear. You should drive your vehicle a quarter-wheel rotation to allow sensor wheel movement before repeating the sensor activation process. You should activate the sensor using the available customer tool followed by another sensor training attempt through open vehicle doors. Use the Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool to activate the sensor through button pressing while testing at least twice. The procedure should be repeated for every other tire on the vehicle. Continue to the Symptom Chart for additional diagnosis and testing if the TPMS indicator fails to turn off after adjusting and activating all sensors.

Before servicing TPMS sensors start by activating them if the car has been idle longer than 30 minutes since the sensors automatically enter power-saving mode. The training process should happen on one vehicle only in a radio-frequency-free area keeping at least a 1-meter distance from other TPMS-equipped vehicles. The Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool needs another attempt after rotating each wheel at least one-fourth of a turn when the sensor does not respond. Try using the customer activation tool or train the system with open doors in case the sensor does not respond to the initial procedure. A 2-minute time frame exists for the Smart Junction Box (SJB) to detect sensor responses but failure to recognize any of the four sensors triggers a horn alert twice before requiring another test attempt. After rotating vehicle tires the sensors should be trained to prevent the TPMS indicator from illuminating. Begin the training process with the ignition off while performing two brake pedal releases and three ignition off to run cycles before performing another brake pedal press. First shut down the ignition before repeating the sequence off to run three times off. A properly carried out training will trigger a single horn sound and a flash from the TPMS indicator alongside a display of Train LF Tire at the message center (if equipped). The Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool should be placed at the valve stem on the LF tire and you need to push the test button to hear brief horn feedback. The procedure to train the RF sensor requires a two-minute time interval and follows the same method applied for the LF tire.
