How to Activate TPMS Sensors on Ford Edge?

At the beginning of activating the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensors users should start by turning the ignition switch to the ON position. Place the Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool at the left front tire sidewall directly next to the tire valve stem. The tool gives feedback by using both a flashing green light and beep sounds during sensor activation but it may be possible for feedback to not appear. How to Service and Repair the TPMS Sensor on Ford Explorer?

First steps for servicing the Tire Pressure Sensor include installing a new sensor grommet to stop air leaks while also avoiding removal of the valve stem core. First separate the wheel and tire assembly after which the components need to be removed according to the direction guides. The installation process should be done by following the removal steps in reverse order while training the tire pressure sensors. The tire pressure must be set to levels that appear on the safety certification sticker which is found on the driver door jamb. Before installing the sensor retainer nut check if the valve stem core was taken out because a new nickel-plated core replacement minimizes tire pressure loss from corrosion. Remove the sensor retaining nut when the valve stem points to the 6 o'clock position then drop the sensor inside the tire. The process of tire bead separation must occur with the valve stem mounting hole facing the 6 o'clock direction. An appropriate tire machine should separate both bead halves from the wheel to set up the tire-wheel assembly on the turntable with the valve stem hole located at 270 degrees from the mounting/dismounting fixture. Start by indexing the valve stem alongside wheel weight locations before applying tire lubrication to bead edges. Then proceed with dismounting the outer tire bead from the rim. During tire mounting make sure the tire bead stays stationary relative to the rim before you apply lubrication to install the outside bead onto the rim.

How Should You Service the TPMS Sensor to Ensure Proper Installation and Functionality on Ford Mustang?

The replacement Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor must have the identical color as the initially removed one because different sensor colors imply non-interchangeability. The installation and removal process of the sensor occurs without removing the strap or cradle while proper Lithium-ion battery disposal remains essential. Clear the tire from its wheel position with careful attention to sense locking clip integrity by using both small and large screwdrivers but applying no more than necessary force. A pocket screwdriver and similar instruments should be used to unclip the sensor locking clip and release the sensor from its cradle before you completely remove it. Pay attention when assembling the sensor to apply moderate force because high pressure might harm the sensor. The sensor needs to be entirely seated in the cradle for proper positioning which produces a "click" sound when it fits correctly. Put a fresh locking clip onto the sensor while keeping it in the right orientation and check that the sensor rests correctly before insertion. Install the tire on the wheel while keeping in mind that the fresh tire pressure sensor requires activation by wheel application and subsequent tire mounting and recommended inflation. Allow the sensor training to begin only after a minimum 2-minute waiting period passes.
