Users need to turn off every accessory while extinguishing the ignition to deactivate the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). To reach RCM fuse 32 (10A) at the Smart Junction Box (SJB) users must first remove its cover from the right side of the center console. Turn on the ignition while watching the air bag warning indicator for thirty seconds; the indicator should stay on continuously if the proper fuse was correctly removed. Delivery of the correct fuse is necessary before continuing with any work. Remove the black ground cable from the battery terminal before waiting one minute to clear the back up power supply. The driver air bag module can be unhooked from the
Steering Wheel when the 3-mm Allen wrench releases the wire clip and both the
Horn and air bag module electrical connections are detached. Open the glove compartment to remove the passenger air bag module's two securing bolts while being cautious to handle it only by the deployment door edges. Begin by unclipping the deployment door clips then take out the passenger air bag module followed by its electrical connector disconnection. First reconnect the safety canopy module electrical connector on the passenger D-pillar but after moving on to disconnect the driver side D-pillar trim panel especially the safety canopy module connector. Popularize and install RCM fuse 32 (10A) before connecting the driver seat side air bag module electrical connector back to the battery ground cable. The procedure for reactivation requires removal of RCM fuse 32 (10A) alongside a one minute waiting period before reconnecting the driver seat side air bag module electrical connector. The last step includes reattaching the safety canopy driver side module followed by reinstallation of the driver side D-pillar trim panel. The routing clip of the wire harness must be placed on the passenger air bag module and verify that all electrical connectors have the correct pairings before continuing. Follow by installing the passenger air bag module while tightening its two bolts to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque value before closing the glove compartment. Connect all electrical wires of the driver air bag module at their proper locations while verifying that wiring harnesses maintain proper paths. Put the ignition into the on position then restore fuse 32 (10A) to its place and place a cover over the SJB. The process of restoring power through the battery ground cable must take place when there are no occupants inside the vehicle. A practitioner should verify the SRS through a process that involves turning off and waiting 10 seconds followed by turning the ignition back on while observing the air bag warning indicator which should light for six seconds before it turns off. Failure of the air bag warning indicator must be diagnosed further through an analysis that includes performing a scan tool-based DTC clearing process for continuous faults in the RCM.
