How to service the brake backing plate on Mercury Mariner?

Service of the brake backing plate starts by removing the rear wheel cylinder and jounce hose bracket bolt with subsequent tightening of the bolt to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.) during reinstallation. You must hold the parking brake cable conduit locking tabs compressed during the pulling of the parking brake cable assembly through the backing plate. First remove the rear wheel hub after which remove the four backing plate bolts and backing plate securing device while securing the bolts at 66 Nm (49 ft. lbs.) during reinstallation. Reinstall the hub by reversing the prior removal steps as the final part of this installation.
