How to service the knock sensor (KS) on Ford Mustang?

Service of the knock sensor requires disconnecting the battery ground cable as the first step. First separate the intake manifold while disconnecting the KS electrical connector. The service of the KS starts with removing the bolt and extracting the sensor from its position. Reinstall the KS while tightening it to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) according to the removal procedure in reverse order.

How to service the knock sensor (KS) on Ford Ranger?

Service of the knock sensor should start by disconnecting both the battery ground cable and the KS electrical connector. Service of the KS requires installation of a new unit since this component functions only once. Start by removing the bolt before you take off and dispose of the current KS. The bolt must be tightened to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) when installing the new KS and the removal steps need to be done in reverse order to finalize the installation process.
