Ford E-250 Econoline Brake Backing Plate Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Brake Backing Plate on Ford E-250 Econoline?
A: Service and repair of the backing plate requires you to start by taking off the rear Brake Shoes and linings then move on to the Axle Shaft or the axle shaft together with the rear hub if available. Using the cable retainer you should compress it to extract the parking brake rear cable and conduit out from the brake backing plate. Remove the rear Wheel Cylinder first by disconnecting the brake line fitting and removing its two bolts. Remove four nuts and bolts that connect the brake backing plate with the axle flange before carrying out this step. Follow the reverse order of removal steps when installing the brake components while performing a complete brake system bleeding operation.
