How to Ensure Proper Tie Rod Maintenance and Installation on a Lincoln Town Car?

To service an inner tie rod, take off the wheel, loosen the tie-rod jam nut and take off the outer tie-rod end. Take out the inner tie rod, but center the steering gear. Wipe the place, oil the groove and do the same during installation. Bend the toe of the front in case of necessity.

How to service the inner tie rod on Lincoln Zephyr?

Take steering gear out; label pinion and housing with marks to fit; hold in a soft-jaw vise. Unscrew jam nut; take off outer tie-rod; insert until 75 Nm (55 ftlb). Take off four clamps, both bellows boots, right inner tie-rod. Lock piston shaft; fit inner tie-rod to 95 Nm (70 ft-lb); reverse.
