It is important to maintain cleanliness to prevent engine failure, in order to service the oil cooler. Empty the cooling system, sever the coolant tubes and change the oil filter. Check foreign material. Install the oil cooler back in place and tighten it and replace the oil filter. Reconnect the tubes and relesect the cooling system.

How to service the oil cooler on Mercury Mountaineer?

In order to maintain the oil cooler, place the vehicle in neutral on a hoist. Cooling system Drain the cooling system, remove and dispose of the oil filter and then fit a new one, clamp 13 Nm. Insert the disconnect hose, take off the oil cooler and tighten it to 57 Nm when replacing. Check engine oil afterward.
