Ignition Coil

Begin service and repairs of the ignition coil by disconnecting the battery ground cable first. The service process starts by disconnecting wires connecting both the engine control sensor and ignition coil and radio interference capacitor. Pull upward from the spark plug wires after you squeeze the locking tabs and twist the cable to disconnect them. The ignition coil together with the radio ignition interference capacitor require removal of their securing bolts from the vehicle. Position the ignition coil along with the radio ignition interference capacitor onto the bracket before fixing the bolts for installation. All ignition wire boots need dielectric compound before installing their connectors onto the correct ignition coil terminals. Make sure the boots fully engage their locations. The electrical link between the ignition coil and the engine control sensors and radio interference capacitor should be completed followed by battery cable grounding.

Squeeze the locking tabs and twist while pulling upward to disconnect the spark plug wires.

Ensure the radio ignition interference capacitor is reinstalled under the correct ignition coil mounting bolt.

Remove the eight bolts securing the ignition coils and take out the coils.

Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring electrical connector from the ignition coils.
