To service a Ford 8.8-inch differential cover, make sure that the vehicle is in neutral position and on a hoist. Take off cover, empty lubricant and wipe down. Use silicone sealant, attach the cover and set up bolts to 45 Nm. In the case of Traction-Lok axles, lubricant should be added after friction modifier. Allow one hour of sealant to dry.

How to service and repair the differential cover on Ford Mustang?

To fix the differential cover, loosen the vehicle and then remove the cover with the help of 10 bolts and emptying the lubricant. Wipe the surface with clean hands, stick silicone sealant and replace the cover. Install filler plug and pour the axle with SAE 80W-90 lubricant to proper level.
