To service turn signal switch, Clock Spring is removed, electrical connectors are disconnected, and multifunction switch is unscrewed. Installation of the new switch will be the reverse. Do not remove the ignition lock cylinder and ignition switch at the same time so as not to damage the steering column.

How to service and repair the turn signal switch on Mercury Grand Marquis?

Removing ignition switch lock cylinder, tilt wheel handle, and steering column shrouds, disconnects the battery ground to change the turn signal switch.
