The Idle Control Valve can be serviced by disconnecting the battery ground, air cleaner outlet tube and disconnecting the engine control sensor wiring. Take away the accelerator and speed control cables, and then the bolts holding the bracket and the valve. Install another gasket and reinstall in the same manner.

How to Service the Idle Control Valve on Lincoln LS?

Disconnect ground cable of the battery, disconnect Idle Control Valve connector. Unscrew bolts, take out the valve and get rid of the gasket. Wipe mating surfaces with care; never use D9AZ-19579-BA (ESR-M14P9-A) or solvent. Sensor wiring can not be cleaned - replace when required. Refit, in opposite order, employing new gasket.
