Removal for the models up to 2008 should start with the removal of any cable connected to the negative terminal of the battery as well as unplugging the electrical connector of the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter monitor. There is one lug nut in the right front wheel that needs to be loosened, tighten the car on the jack stands and remove the wheel and the fender splash shield. The exhaust crossover pipe and the drive belt should be stripped, and the air conditioning compressor should be detached without the need to competely disconnect the refrigerant. Take off the six nuts used to secure the front exhaust manifold, as well as get rid of the manifold gasket, and remove as much of the old gasket material as well as carbon deposits on the two surfaces that will be in contact with one another, but do not scratch the aluminum components in the process. Replace with a new manifold gasket and lightly lubricate the stud threads with oil; thereafter, using nuts, fasten the manifold round and about. After the installation, the starting is done in a reverse sequential fashion so as to check for exhaust leak, and then to allow the Powertrain Control Module to relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy. For the rear exhaust manifold, unbolt the negative battery terminal, remove the EGR pipe, alternator, and oxygen sensor then remove the bolt of the exhaust manifold flange and the six nuts and bolt washers and discard the gasket and wash the surfaces that come in contact with gasket. For 2009 and later models the first things to do includes turning off the negative terminal of the battery, loosening the right-front wheel lug nuts and then jack up the vehicle. After that you have to take out the passenger's side inner fender splash shield, the engine drive belt, and the wiring from the air conditioning compressor and, finally, the oil dipstick tube. Remove the nut of the EGR fitting, remove the exhaust pipe from the manifold and dispose the gasket. Scrub the mating surfaces as well as examine for bend, twist the new studs and a gasket and clamp the exhaust manifold as well as connect to the exhaust pipe using a new gasket. If you are done, then it is time to do the opposite of what you have done during the removal process.
