How to Service and Repair a Wiper Switch on the Steering Column on Mercury Montego?

In order to service wiper switch, one will need to remove the steering wheel and upper steering column shroud. Remove screws that hold back steering column cover and lower shroud. Unscrew the electrical connectors and unscrew the screws that hold the multi-function switch. These steps to be installed in reverse.

To service the wiper switch, disconnect the battery ground cable. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder by turning the key to RUN and pushing the release tab. Then, remove the tilt wheel handle and steering column shrouds. Unscrew and disconnect the multifunction switch, then reverse the steps for installation.
