This inhibit timing system is intricate, and any blunders could lead to severe engine harm; therefore, it should not be performed by the inexperienced mechanics. Regarding the skills, in case there is any doubt, it is always wise to seek for professional advice. First use the parking brake, lift the front of the car and put it on jackstands safely. Disconnect the front engine cover, to compress the timing chain tensioner, prop it up with a pin, in a manner that only the round plunger is compressed and not the ratchet. In case the ratchet needs resetting pull the tensioner lightly and place it within a vise, ease off the tension on the ratchet by using a pick type tool after which the ratchet is moved back into the tensioners, a pin is then inserted to keep the ratchet compressed before releasing the vise. Subsequently, take out the two tensioner mounting bolts and the tensioner and then the loose timing chain guide and the timing chain. If required, the left chain guide and camshaft sprockets can be taken off again. To rotate the crankshaft manually prior to starting the engine, there must be at least two full rotations, so using a socket and breaker bar on the crankshaft pulley center bolt and if any of this is felt, possible there is a problem, most probably involving the valves and the pistons. If used, the camshaft alignment tool should be removed; both the camshaft sprocket bolts should now be loosened without being fully detached, the camshaft should be steadied by use of a wrench while the sprocket bolt is turned. In case the chain guide is out, then this should be replaced with the correct one followed by the installation of the timing chain and then the right chain guide. Place and fit the timing chain tensioner and tighten the bolts to the required torque then remove the pin from the timing chain to make it free . Remove the camshaft alignment tool and tighten the camshaft sprocket bolts to their respective manufactures recommended torque while holding the camshafts with a wrench this should be done to avoid the camshaft alignment tool damage. Finally, the engine front cover is on as it is found in the picture below.
