First use a marker to note the four settings of the strut upper bushing plate nuts on the vehicle. Then remove both strut-to-knuckle nuts and bolts. Take necessary precautions to stop the axle shaft from moving outward since extended use of the tripod CV joint leads to internal component separation which causes axle shaft failure. Insert the upper mounting plate of the new assembly under the inner fender while orienting it according to the reference marks on the four strut upper bushing nuts before securing them at 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Reinstall the two strut-to-knuckle bolts and attaching nuts while applying 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.) torque and preferably set the upper stabilizer bar link nut to 63 Nm (46 ft. lbs.) and the ABS wheel speed sensor harness bolt to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). The last step involves securing the brake jounce hose to its bracket followed by installation of the brake jounce hose clip. Front end alignment should then be checked followed by appropriate adjustments.
